About Our School

Idayimani Montessori Academy focuses on the 3–6 age group and is considered a formative period in Montessori. Children at this stage absorb information from their environment effortlessly — often called the “absorbent mind” phase. Maria Montessori designed a prepared environment that supports the child’s independence, concentration, coordination, and order.

What Makes Montessori Unique for Ages 3–6?

Idayimani Montessori Academy

Mixed-age group

Children aged 3–6 learn from each other. Older children develop leadership; younger children learn by observing.

Freedom within limits

Children choose activities, but within a structured environment.

Hands-on learning

Everything is done through physical interaction with materials.

Focus on independence

“Help me do it myself” is the core principle.

Respect for the child

Teachers observe rather than dictate.

Benefits of Montessori 3–6

Montessori education supports a strong foundation in reading, writing, and math while also encouraging social and emotional development. Children gain independence and self-regulation, which helps them navigate tasks confidently. The approach nurtures natural curiosity and a love of learning, building confidence and resilience that supports long-term growth and success.

Our Founder - Kissmea Adams

Kissmea Adams is a driving force in community development, known for replacing micromanagement with genuine empowerment. Her work prioritizes long-term, sustainable impact over short-term gains, with a strong focus on establishing solid foundations that ensure project success. She is a successful Project Manager with extensive experience navigating the South African construction industry and the Early Childhood Development (ECD) sector. In addition, she is recognized as one of Cape Town’s Risk Analysts within the development sector, bringing strategic insight and practical implementation together to deliver resilient, community-centered outcomes. Known for her boots-on-the-ground, community-first approach, she transforms projects into sustainable business models that are owned, managed, and driven by members of the community themselves. Due to high demand for her services, she limits her engagements to just three projects per year to ensure depth, quality, and measurable impact. Her love for her country is unmistakable. A proud South African, she is driven by a steadfast commitment to putting South Africa first in all her work.

Meet the Staff

The dedicated staff of Idayimani Montessori Academy have successfully completed their Montessori Certificate through the Montessori College South Africa (MCSA). In addition, they are currently finalising their practical requirements for the Montessori Early Learning Foundation (MELF) diploma. This diploma will be awarded in 2026 once all classroom observations by the five qualifying teachers are completed. These qualifications reflect not only their commitment to professional excellence, but also their passion for offering authentic, high-quality Montessori education to the children of Langa. To ensure the highest standards of safety and care, the entire team renews their First Aid Certification every three years. Staff also attend annual training workshops, which provide ongoing development in areas such as child development, classroom practice, and Montessori philosophy.
Idayimani Montessori Academy remains deeply committed to continuous learning, ensuring that every teacher is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and heart needed to support each child on their educational journey.
