Love to Langa is a US-based 501(c)(3) charity with over 10 years of experience initiating sustainable projects in Cape Town’s townships. In partnership with Love to Langa Cape Town (a registered PBO), we have embarked on a new journey: Idayimani Montessori Academy, the first fully functional Montessori preschool of its kind in Africa.
The school is designed to educate 200 children annually, while also training future teachers from the Langa community and supporting local families.
With three classrooms, a full-time aftercare program, and a nurturing environment, we are proud to be making Montessori education accessible to our community.
We currently employ nine local women who serve as class teachers (soon to be certified Montessori Directresses), aftercare staff, and support staff—including a dedicated cook and cleaner.
Program
Montessori education emphasizes independence, curiosity, and collaboration. As the American Montessori Association explains:
“Given the freedom and support to question, to probe deeply, and to make connections, Montessori students become confident, enthusiastic, self-directed learners. They are able to think critically, work collaboratively, and act boldly—a skill set for the 21st century.”
