Development of the Langa Aquatic Facility.
The Langa Aquatic Facility Love to Langa Cape Town, Phase 2 Love to Langa Cape Town is currently fundraising for Phase 2 — the development of the Langa Aquatic Facility. This next phase represents a powerful step forward for Idayimani Montessori Academy and the community. The upcoming aquatic centre is envisioned as a safe, modern, and fully inclusive space where children and residents of Langa can learn essential water-safety skills, receive professional swimming instruction, and discover the joy and confidence that come with mastering the water. In a country where drownings remain a serious concern, especially in underserved communities, this facility will do far more than provide recreation — it will save lives, open doors to future sporting opportunities, and strengthen community wellbeing. The fundraising efforts for Phase 2 aim to bring this vision to life by securing support for construction, equipment, safety infrastructure, and ongoing operational needs. With collective support, the Langa Aquatic Facility will become a cornerstone of empowerment, health, and hope for generations to come. The Langa Aquatic Facility will be Love to Langa Cape Town’s second indoor, heated Learn-to-Swim pool — a major step forward in expanding access to life-saving water-safety education. The organisation’s first Learn-to-Swim facility was successfully built in Philippi, eight years ago, where it continues to serve the community with pride, offering children and adults a safe, structured space to develop essential swimming skills for Philippi, Mitchells Plain and as far as Khayelitsha. Building on that success, the Langa Aquatic Facility is designed to extend the same transformative opportunities to the families of Langa. With its heated, all-weather design, it will provide year-round swimming lessons, water-safety training, and a secure environment for young learners to build confidence in the water. This second pool represents Love to Langa’s ongoing commitment to creating healthier, safer, and more empowered communities — one child, one swimmer, and one neighbourhood at a time.
